Ten more days and I'll be free; Ten more days of MISS-ERR-EEE!
(can anyone tell that I'm thrilled to be leaving the bank?) I had an interesting customer the other day. I think I told the story before, but it's a good one. This customer (50 year old gentleman) needed a copy of his most recent bank statement so that he could refinance some loan at another bank. He came in on the 16th with his June statement and asked if we could have his 7/17 - 8/17 statement emailed? "Sure, no problem. What is your email address?" "I don't have one." he answered. ::pause:: "We can't email it without an email address." we answered. "Could you just send it here, to the bank?" "no, that won't work. What are you trying to accomplish?" "Well, I need the statement by Monday." ::pause:: "ok, so what is the problem" "Well, could you just print it out now for me?" "no the statement is generated after the 17th. Today is the 16th" "Couldn't you just print up to this point?" "I could print out your transactions, but it won't be an official bank statement" "Could you just give me a photostatic copy today?" (Ok, I'm old, but what the schnitzel is a photostatic copy?) ..(long pause while Donna and I try to figure out if this guy is for real) ... "The statements are printed in an office in GreenBay. We don't print them here. I should be able to get a copy of it for you on Monday." "Well, could you call them and just have it emailed here today instead?"
we gave up.
But, in 10 more days, I can stop having to explain to people that we don't keep their money in the vault, we don't run to the Social Security office and gather up all the direct deposit checks, we don't write out checks for their car payments that are paid electronically. In other words, in ten days I can stop being a teller, and just be
anti-mom
Hurray! Soon no bank!
ReplyDeleteIs Lady Tig feeling any better? I promise not to post about dead animals...
Tig is doing better, but she doesn't think so yet. She's at the "I feel so much better I now have the energy to wish I was dead." phase.
ReplyDeleteTalking about dead, I was driving down the road .... ;-)
