brownies

Not only are brownies an elusive creature in mythology, they are also evanescent things when it comes to chocolate.

Too sweet, too cake-like, too dry, too fluffy, too chewy, undercooked/overcooked and a zillion other things that brownies are never supposed to be. These are what we daily endure at a typical pot-luck. Brownies should be dark, rich, dense, moist, with crisp tops. They should never have nuts, chocolate chips or frosting. They should taste like the rain forest looks, dark, moist, warm, mysterious. --perhaps, if more people learned how to make brownies, we could stop the deforestation of the rain forests.... I think I'll call the U.N and make a proposal.

After I bake some brownies.

  2. Are cake-like and fluffy the same thing or different? Thank you for the brownies mum!

  3. Cake like are cakey, and fluffy brownies are dry-ish and fluffy. Not the same thing, but similar.

(glad to clear that up ;-)

  4. I think a rain forest is the best way to describe Brownies! But this batch came out to fluffy, or cake-like?
