I am sad because I wrote a story that no one understands, and I even read their written comments, and maybe one person in the whole class started to understand it.
even one of my very best writing friends didn't get it.
I am very discouraged and I hate being discouraged because it doesn't happen very often and I'm never quite sure exactly what to do with it.
What do you do when you are discouraged?
A social experiment was conducted back in June of 2007. Is art recognizable when it is out of context? Or, another way to put it, do we value the art because it's in a museum, or do we value the museum because it contains the art?
ReplyDeleteIf the experiment was correct, we only value the art when it's in the museum.

If no words were changed in your story, but we presented it to the same classmates under the name of Virgina Wolfe, or Flannery O'Connor or Zora Neale Hurston it would have received raves.
As to what to do when I'm blue? I eat oreo's. I watch more tv than is good for me. I clean the house (ok, I think about cleaning the house.) I talk to my favorite people (you!) I put on the magic hat and sing, "Old MacDonald had a Farm ....
EEEEEEE IIIIIII EEEEEEE IIIIII OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Jessika don't be blue :-) The greatest writers are not appreciated at first. Being rejected only shows your greatness. :)

Oh and you should come here and huge Tabby. That will cheer you up :)
ReplyDeletehugging tabby would cheer me up for good!
ReplyDeleteIs Tabby huge now? or is she the same?
She is 20 pounds now and she was about 10 when you were here last. She wiggles, too. She LOVES attention. She would love to be hugged, if she held still.
ReplyDeleteWe should send you a picture of Grace making a funny face. That would be perfect. It would make you laugh, or bubble over with joy. :)
Oh, Jess, I'm so sorry for you. But, cheer up! Think about this: In less than a month, the sun will be setting at 8:00 PM. In about 2 months, the average temperature in the day will be closer to 80 degrees than 30. In just over 2 months, you'll turn 22! OK, that last one isn't as cheery, but you get the idea. Life doesn't stay terrible for more than a week, except when jobs are lost. Just think about all of the good things that have happened recently. You got accepted in Grad School! Grace said something funny! (Not terribly surprising, but very good). Remember: smile! :)
ReplyDeleteI just reread my coment and realized what TERRIBLE speeling I have. Sorry :)
ReplyDeletejust wondering,
ReplyDeletedid you know that you misspelled "comment" and "spelling" in that last post?
Yes I know. Irony is so fun. :)
